Old
Lyme Conservation Trust, Inc.
|
OLCT History It started with a wish to protect the Lieutenant River area by forming an alliance but the scope was widened and in September 27 of 1966 the Old Lyme Conservation Trust was incorporated. The original signing officers were John Lohmann, Jeanne K. Clark and Russell L. Brenneman. For a long time, all land acquired was donated. It was not until the purchase of Watch Rock in 1988 that the Trust actually bought a piece of property. Since then, more land has been purchased as well as donated. A lot of the Trust's land is marshland around the Lieutenant River, but there is also a lot of properties available for e. g. hiking, please see our Properties section. Today, OLCT owns or manages more than 700 acres in the Town of Old Lyme and is still actively seeking to follow our mission: Preserve and enhance the rural character and quality of life for the benefit of all the inhabitants in the Town of Old Lyme!
