The Lay Property

Lay property (185 acres) is currently owned by The Nature Conservancy. It is located off the Boston Post Road not far from Laysville hardware.

Directions. Take Boston Post Road to Lord's Meadow, then left on Lord's Meadow Lane, continue straight ahead and enter the development (no houses yet), before the cul-de-sac on the right (note several stakes in the ground). Park there and enter the Lay property via the rutted dirt road heading south. Lay property begins at the large pile of rocks in the middle of the wood road.

Map it?

Trail. The trailhead is clearly marked. The trail, which is marked by orange painted metal squares, descends the hill, turns south along an old wood road, then descends the hill further and crosses a stream. From there the trail heads north in a mile loop around a heavily wooded marsh. The trail then retraces the stream crossing, back up the hill to the parking area. The loop is close to three miles in length and takes about an hour.

Stewards. Currently managed by The Nature Conservancy.
